I bought the upgraded version. A few extra details that the product page doesn't tell you, it comes with spare batteries for the led and most of the small pieces come with a generous amount of spare parts. This is my first time doing a metal build kit, I have done a lot of gundam model kits which are plastic. The cost of this model is almost equivalent to 3 advance gundam build kits, I understand its because its metal vs plastic but lets see if the build experience at least holds up to gundam models. Sadly it doesn't, far from it, below are all the complaints I have.

First of all make sure you have a wrench and pliers, the kit comes with a screw driver and some T shape thing for screwing in nuts but it isn't enough and you WILL NOT be able to complete the model with the base tools. A lot of problems with both the instructions not being detailed enough and pieces having low tolerance and quality leaving a lot of moments where things didn't go together without using extreme force.

Examples:
-Very first step, piece H14 and 5B the 2 holes don't line up. It was impossible to thread the screw without so much force a good amount of metal got shaved of.
-The teeth (pieces 3, J10) they don't screw into the screw easily without a lot of resistance, good luck trying to grab a shiny cylinder object without losing grip to screw the screw in it.
-Instruction doesn't tell you how hard you should tighten the screw, the precaution section says to tighten screws as much as possible but this is the wrong way to build as several steps would have been a lot easier if previous steps you didn't tighten the screw. Example step 89 assembling the belly, if the m240 screws in step 73-75 were loose you could adjust the pieces to make more room. Or Step 60 if you didn't tighten the screw in step 26 you could have more easily assembled everything in that step.
-Step 73 wasn't possible to fit 6 pieces, had to fit D11 below the D19E metal plate.
-Step 118, M370 thread was too short, couldn't put J25 on either side.

The order of which you build the model had some questionable moments which led to steps being not possible without undoing previous steps or doing out of the box thinking.

Example:
-Step 98, near impossible to put the M2 nut through the mouth to secure the head and body, the teeth are in way, should have assembled the lower jar after step 98.
-Step 107, install the eyes but in step 115 the eyes are in the way from installing 5B.

The way the pieces go together allows for a lot of variation leading to a lot of moments where pieces won't fit together later on down the line.
-the frame of the body is 3 pieces of metal which YOU have to bend to a specific shape (step 66, 68), this leads to a lot of variance which causes frustration for a wide variety of steps further down the line.
-Step 90 the screws were way off and didn't align at all. Had to use a double thread screw and 2 nuts to generate enough force to bend 15B outward. And I had to bend it back and beyond to do step 96 (picture below showing the misalignment)
-Piece 15B, why are the holes not symmetrical and why are the holes big enough for the screw to move around? Leads to high variance.
-Same with piece D12, why not have holes for each teeth spot instead of me having to eye ball the teeth position while trying to make the jaw symmetrical.

Overall I did not enjoy building this, there is challenging and fun and then you have challenging and frustrating which is how I would describe this build kit. Its almost like nobody bother to build it and iterate on the instructions for a better quality experience. Either this is how every metal build kit is or I have severe skill issue.

You are better of trying gundam build kits, cheaper, pieces have higher tolerance and are higher quality, and more detailed and clearer instructions. I hope who ever created this model can take this feedback and implement these suggestions into future models as I believe these models look cool just the build experience needs to be improved. And for people who are currently building this and are having trouble with some steps I hope my review could help you out as there was no discussion online about the build process.

I really love this anglerfish! The material and quality are excellent, and the after-sales service is great too. I've made many purchases here and it's been fantastic every time.

I had a lot of fun building it.

I had so much fun building this project. It all came together very nicely in the end. I would have given 5 stars if the instructions were a little better. They were very detailed and accurate. The pictures are too small, and I have great vision. I had to take pictures with my phone in certain cases and zoom in on them to know exactly what I was doing. I would gladly pay extra for online instructions that can be zoomed and even rotated. I'm very happy overall and will buy another!

The second I got this, I unpacked it and for the next 4 days, if I wasnt asleep, I was building this. A fun challenge.
